​​Roberto has more than 18 years of experience in the oil industry and administration of Comprehensive Exploration and Production Contracts (CIEPs), recently being responsible for the contracts in the contractual areas of two CIEPs, as well as two license agreements awarded in the Round 1.3. He has vast experience in the administration of oil contracts and joint operating agreements (JOA).

Roberto was instrumental in the development of the areas of Planning, Business Development, Procurement of Services and Administration of Contracts of Grupo Diavaz. He also played a prominent role in the preparation of the Group's proposal, which enabled him to obtain two contractual areas in Round 1.3 organized by the CNH.


Alberto Calva has a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, a Master of Economics and MBA with a major in finance. His first financial models for companies on a professional level were developed in the eighties when he was still a university student and when financial modeling in the business world was just beginning. He is, without a doubt, one of the most experienced financial advisors and financial modeller in the market, as well as one of the few with continuous international professional activity.

Alberto is a consultant as well as an entrepreneur. He founded Acus Consulting in 1991. Alberto provides business consulting services, executive training and speaker. He has trained nearly 10,000 executives and entrepreneurs from over 20 different countries over the last 25 years.

He has over 25 years of business experience as an executive, board member and entrepreneur. In these 25 years, he has successfully managed his company through four macroeconomic crisis. Early in his career, he was part of the executive team which assisted to avoid the bankruptcy of a manufacturing company.

Alberto has taught part-time in graduate business school since 1989 at the Tecnologico de Monterrey and ITAM. He wrote and published the book "What every executive should know about finance".  He has written over 400 articles on finance and business.

Alberto Calva practices primarily in Canada and Mexico and in other countries on certain projects.


Jorge is a CPA licensed in Mexico with extensive experience in transactions in the public and private sectors in Mexico and Canada. He has extensive experience in analyzing and planning business strategies and in negotiating contracts and developing business relationships.

Likewise, Jorge has broad experience in the development and coordination of highly complex joint audit processes. Jorge currently coordinates several audits strictly related to the oil and gas sector which require a high degree of specialization.

Before joining SMPS, Jorge founded Solorzano Corporation and acquired over 16 years of experience in administration and accounting of companies in both Mexico and Canada.

Jorge holds a degree in Public Accounting from the University of Guanajuato in Mexico and obtained a Diploma in Business Administration at the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico in 2001.


Carlos is a licensed lawyer in Mexico, residing in Calgary with a vast experience in Latin America, specialized in oil and gas, real estate and foreign investment structuring. His practice focuses primarily on an effective and sound advice for secure access to the Mexican market and other Latin American jurisdictions, as well as selecting, negotiating, developing and implementing strategic alliances and joint ventures for the real estate and oil and gas sectors. Carlos has also represented numerous clients in dispute resolution matters.

Before SMPS, Carlos founded SOLORZANO CORPORATION and served for several years at a top tier Canadian law firm assisting several clients on successfully establishing their businesses in Mexico. Carlos also worked for Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Consulate in Calgary being responsible of Mexico-Alberta economic affairs and providing potential investors with guidelines for conducting business. Before moving to Canada in 2002, Carlos practiced law with top tier law firms in Mexico representing Mexican and non-Mexican clients.

Carlos obtained his degree in Law from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 1998. He participated in the Private, Public Partnerships Course and the Private Equity Transactions Course of Osgoode Law School, York University, in the years of 2006 and 2007, respectively, and the Alternative Dispute Resolutions Course in Alberta, Canada, in the year 2007. Carlos is fluent in both, English and Spanish and he is a member of the Mexican Bar Association and of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce, in Mexico City.
